The silver medal of martial artist Truong Thi Kim Tuyen at the US Open on the afternoon of February 19 in the US is an optimistic preparation for Vietnamese taekwondo in winning a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Up to this point, Vietnam's taekwondo only has the 2024 Asian regional athlete selection tournament left, taking place on March 15 and 16 in China, hoping to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Because Vietnamese taekwondo does not have any athletes in the top 5 of the world rankings in 8 Olympic weight classes, counting the World Grand Prix final, nor topping the Grand Slam Champions Series rankings in 8 weight classes after December 2023.
Therefore, in the first days of the new year, the Vietnamese taekwondo team took advantage of the opportunity to train in Korea and participate in international tournaments to gain experience and prepare for the important competition next March.
Most recently, number 1 hope Truong Thi Kim Tuyen won the silver medal at the US Open held in the US at noon on February 19, after losing 1/2 to number 1 seed Souza Daniela Paola (Mexico) in the final match of the women's under 49kg weight category.

Not to mention, this 27-year-old girl had 3 wins against Choi Ashley (USA), Sendra Giulia Clara (Argentina) and Kafadar Josipa (Canada) to reach the final of the 2024 US Open.
In the upcoming 2024 Asian Regional Athlete Selection, the two finalists in the eight weight classes will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Kim Tuyen participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, so of course she is still the biggest hope.
Before the 2024 US Open, Kim Tuyen and her teammates on the Vietnamese taekwondo team will also participate in the 2024 Canada Open, taking place from February 8 to 10.
Kim Tuyen was eliminated in the quarterfinals but still had 3 useful matches in the women's under 53kg category. She beat Tatianchenko Sophi (Canada) and Poire Aurelie (Canada) with the same score of 2-0, before losing to No. 1 seed Su Po Ya (Taiwan) 1-2 in the quarterfinals.
The only Vietnamese taekwondo athlete to win a medal at the 2024 Canada Open was Bac Thi Khiem. She won silver in the women's under-67kg category, after losing to top seed Milena Titoneli (Brazil).
