On the morning of July 7, the 2024 National Youth Archery Championship officially opened at the Hai Duong Sports Training, Coaching and Competition Center.
The 2024 National Youth Archery Championship has the participation of athletes from 17 delegations nationwide, 2 delegations less than last year, including: Hai Duong, Hanoi, Hai Phong, An Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dak Lak, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Soc Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Vinh Phuc.
The tournament has nearly 200 male and female athletes competing in 40 events. Notably, the tournament has the participation of athletes from the national youth team.
The tournament is held annually and is important in creating conditions for athletes to directly compete in a competitive environment, accumulate experience, skills and psychology when competing. Through this tournament, the archery department and the team's coaching staff will discover more young talents to build a successor force for the national team. This is also an opportunity for localities across the country to review and evaluate the force of youth training work to build a solid foundation for the archery movement across the country.
The 2024 National Youth Archery Championship, hosted by Hai Duong, will take place from July 5-13 at the Hai Duong Sports Training, Coaching and Competition Center. This is the third time Hai Duong has hosted the National Youth Archery Championship.
At this tournament, Hai Duong sent a team of 14 archers, led by coach Nguyen Xuan Thanh, with the goal of winning at least 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Among the 14 athletes, there are two brothers Pham Tran Hoang and Pham Tran Bao Huy. Pham Tran Hoang is the reigning champion of the 3-string bow at the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022.
In addition to the host Hai Duong, the tournament had the participation of nearly 200 archers and 38 coaches from 16 delegations nationwide. Famous national archers from Hai Duong, Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu and Le Phuong Thao, did not compete in this tournament because they were too old.
