FIFA will announce the players and coaches who won The Best 2024 awards online.
FIFA will hold a ceremony to announce the voting results at the Aspire Football Academy in Doha, Qatar at 0:00 on December 18 (Hanoi time). The event will be broadcast live on the website.FIFA.comand there will be no attendance of players or coaches. FIFA believes that online awarding is the best way in the context of busy clubs with tight match schedules, making it difficult for players to arrange their schedules to attend.
This is the ninth time FIFA has presented The Best. The event will take place before the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final between Real Madrid and CF Pachuca. December 17, 2024 will also be exactly two years since the most-watched World Cup final of all time between Argentina and France.
Fans will play a key role in voting for the winners in six categories: Best Men's and Women's Player, Best Men's and Women's Coach, and Best Men's and Women's Goalkeeper. The winners of these six categories will be determined by a voting system with votes given equal weight between fans, national team captains and coaches, as well as media representatives.
This year, for the first time, fans will be able to vote for their best men’s and women’s teams. For each team, fans will select 11 players from a list of 77 and place them in pre-set formations according to their preferred position. The results of the vote will be decided by a 50:50 split between fans and a panel of experts.
The newly launched FIFA Marta Award and the FIFA Puskas Award – for the best goal of the year in women's and men's football – will be decided by votes from fans and a panel of FIFA legends, while the fan favourite award will be voted for entirely by fans. The Fairplay Award of the Year will be decided by a panel of experts.
