European Union (EU) leaders on October 17 reaffirmed the bloc's strong commitment to Ukraine, saying they would continue to provide the necessary support for the country to carry out reforms to achieve its goal of joining the EU.
The decision was made after a European Council summit held the same day in Brussels.
The conclusion of the conference stated that the EU will continue to work closely with Ukraine and support its reform efforts on the path to EU membership. EU leaders also said they remain committed to supporting Ukraine in its repair, recovery and reconstruction, in coordination with international partners. The next Ukraine Recovery Conference will be hosted by Italy in July 2025.
In addition, EU leaders confirmed that the EU remains committed to supporting those displaced by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, both in Ukraine and in the EU, including providing full and flexible financial support to Member States bearing the greatest burden of health, education and living costs for refugees.
