Strong earthquake shakes Philippines and Indonesia

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook Mindanao Island, Philippines at 20:09:37 GMT on February 7 (3 a.m. February 8, Vietnam time).

The earthquake had a focal depth of 10 km. The epicenter was initially determined to be at 9.67 degrees North latitude and 126.59 degrees East longitude.

Earlier the same day, the US Geological Survey said that at 7:33 p.m. on February 7, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred 166 km west-southwest of the town of Fakfak in Indonesia.

The earthquake had a focal depth of 10km. Initially, the epicenter was determined to be at coordinates 3.33 degrees south latitude and 130.85 degrees east longitude.

During the same period, the German Research Center for Geosciences GFZ recorded a magnitude 5.3 earthquake that shook Indonesia's Seram Island.

The epicenter is located at a depth of 44.7 km at coordinates 3.40 degrees South latitude and 130.81 degrees East longitude.
