Vietnam national team to tour Korea before AFF Cup 2024

In preparation for the AFF Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team is expected to gather again on November 21, after round 9 of the LPBank V-League 2024/25. Previously, during the FIFA Days in November, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team did not play an international friendly match because the VFF had difficulty in contacting quality "blue troops" due to the teams' tight schedules. On the other hand, the VFF and VPF want the V-League 2024/25 and the first division to be played smoothly during that time.

Instead of playing a friendly match, the Vietnamese team "changed the wind" with a training trip to Korea, right after coach Kim Sang Sik and his team returned to the team.

In Korea, the Vietnamese team is expected to practice with some K-League teams to improve their techniques and tactics, especially their physical strength. With coach Kim Sang Sik having many relationships and coaching experience in the K-League, the red team hopes to have the best conditions to improve their skills.

Previously, the Vietnamese team played friendly matches with Russia, Thailand, Nam Dinh Steel Blue and India. In these 4 friendly matches, the Vietnamese team showed poor performance. However, coach Kim Sang Sik affirmed that the Vietnamese team will be different when entering the AFF Cup 2024 campaign.

At the 2024 AFF Cup, Vietnam is in Group B with Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Laos. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will play their opening match against Laos (November 24), then return to My Dinh to play Indonesia (November 30). Next, Vietnam will visit the Philippines (December 3) and end the group stage at home against Myanmar (December 7).
