On the morning of June 12, at the organic rice production area of An Dinh village, An Thanh commune, Tu Ky district (Hai Duong), the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with Tu Ky district to organize the 2024 organic rice festival. This is the third year this event has been held.
Comrades: Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Tran Duc Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee; Trieu The Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the festival.
Speaking at the festival, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan highly appreciated Hai Duong’s initiative in organizing the festival. This is an opportunity to introduce clean, high-quality agricultural products, and at the same time inspire farmers from all regions and areas across the country to practice organic farming.
Minister Le Minh Hoan said that the new mindset of “Hai Duong people do agriculture for humanity” needs to be widely implemented, with love for agriculture, love for nature, and clean and beautify the environment. The spirit of humanity will help rice grains go far, agricultural products go far, and reach more consumers.
Appreciating the organization of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tu Ky district, comrade Le Minh Hoan believes that in the coming time, with new thinking and ways of doing, the new rural areas of the locality will be increasingly improved and many agricultural products and agricultural specialties will be welcomed. The way of doing things of the people here will create a new revolution right in the consciousness and actions towards nature, human health and future generations. Speaking at the event, Hai Duong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang affirmed that the 2024 spring organic rice festival of Tu Ky district will not only bring interesting experiences to people and tourists but also encourage, motivate and recognize the contribution of the agricultural sector to the local and regional economy...
The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that the festival is an opportunity for Hai Duong province to introduce and promote rice and crab products, specialties of Hai Duong province that have existed for many generations. Exploiting and preserving crab and crab specialties combined with organic agricultural production brings high economic efficiency and contributes to protecting the environment and people's health.
The Provincial Party Secretary said that Hai Duong has been focusing on developing a multi-layered, multi-value agricultural economy based on the potential and advantages of each region and locality's agricultural sector.
On this occasion, representatives of Bao Minh Agricultural Processing and Trading Joint Stock Company, New Generation Agriculture and An Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative signed a contract for production linkage with organic product consumption, cooperation in eco-tourism and experience. Leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and leaders of Hai Duong province cut the ribbon to sell the organic rice shipment.
In the Tu Ky organic rice festival, delegates visited the organic rice production area and exploited the earthworms and crabs and cheered on the organic rice harvesting competition and the organic specialty rice cooking competition.
Up to now, the total area of organic production combined with exploitation of earthworms and clams in Tu Ky district is 550 hectares. The district continues to mobilize farmers to expand the area of organic rice production combined with exploitation of earthworms and clams, increasing this area to 700 hectares by 2025. The current output of earthworms is 450 tons/year, and clams is 200 tons/year; the product value is from 400 - 450 million VND/ha/year, 8 - 10 times higher than inorganic intensive farming.
Currently, Tu Ky district has 34 OCOP certified products, including 12 products from organic production areas combined with the exploitation of earthworms and crabs certified as 3-star OCOP products.
In 2022, the 137-hectare agricultural production area combining the exploitation of earthworms and crabs in An Thanh commune was certified to meet Vietnam's organic agricultural standards. This is also the first recognized organic production area in the province.
