The Vietnam Register has just sent a document to the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security) about the phenomenon of borrowing the name of the Vietnam Register to commit online fraud and appropriate money.

Specifically, according to the Vietnam Register, recently, the Department's bank account received amounts of VND10,000 - 23,000 transferred from personal accounts, most of which did not clearly state the transfer content.

Based on the information about the license plate number recorded in the money transfer content of some vehicle owners, the Vietnam Register contacted some vehicle owners and learned that: A group of people called the vehicle owners to inform that from October 1, 2024, the Vietnam Register will change the inspection stamp model and request that if the vehicle owner wants to change the new stamp, they must pay 10,000 VND/stamp and a shipping fee of 23,000 VND to the Department's account.

At the same time, this group of subjects instructed vehicle owners to access a fake link of the Vietnam Register to declare personal information for the purpose of changing the stamp. When vehicle owners access the fake link, they will be at risk of being scammed and having their money stolen.

To prevent the above situation, the Vietnam Register has issued a notice to motor vehicle inspection units to warn vehicle owners in the management area.

The Vietnam Register affirms that there is no requirement to change inspection stamps, no requirement or notification for vehicle owners to transfer money to perform the service of changing inspection stamps.

Vehicle owners should absolutely not transfer money to any requests or notifications from calls or messages from strange phone numbers (not publicly listed by the Vietnam Register). At the same time, do not access links impersonating the Vietnam Register.
