On the morning of June 28, Thanh Ha District People's Court sentenced Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam (born in 1998, in Thanh Quang commune) to 4 years in prison for theft of property.

According to the indictment, Tam and Ms. VTH (in Thanh Son commune) were friends. On the afternoon of February 21, Tam went to Ms. H's house to play. At around 4 p.m. the same day, Ms. H asked Tam to look after the house while she went to pick up her children. Taking advantage of the time when no one was home, Tam unlocked the safe and stole VND100 million from Mr. BVB, Ms. H's father-in-law, and two gold necklaces and a pair of gold earrings. The total value of the stolen property was more than VND145 million.

After stealing the above assets, Tam spent them on personal expenses. On February 27, Tam surrendered himself to the Thanh Ha District Police.
