North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has arrived in the Russian city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, following a summit with President Vladimir Putin.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un arrived in the town of Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia's Far East on September 15, according to TASS news agency. Mr. Kim met with the region's governor and other officials at the city's railway station.
He then visited the Komsomolsk Aviation Plant, which produces Russia's most modern fighter jets - the Su-35 and Su-57. The plant also builds civilian aircraft.
Earlier, Mr. Kim Jong-un and President Putin visited the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Russia's most modern space launch facility in the Amur region. Here, the two leaders and their defense ministers discussed military issues. Mr. Putin also accepted Mr. Kim Jong-un's invitation to visit North Korea.
After the summit held at the Vostochny cosmodrome, Mr Putin said Mr Kim would travel to the Russian city to visit an aircraft factory and then to Vladivostok to tour Russia's Pacific Fleet.
The summit comes as Pyongyang has recently sought to strengthen ties with Moscow amid tightening security cooperation between the US-Japan-South Korea alliance.
This is the second visit to Russia and the first foreign trip by the North Korean leader in more than four years. Kim Jong-un's last foreign trip was in 2019, when he went to Vladivostok for a summit with President Putin.
