North Korean leader affirms importance of relations with Russia

Leader Kim Jong-un expressed the above views after arriving at Khasan station in Primorsky Territory of the Russian Federation, in the early morning of September 12, where he met with Russian officials.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on September 13 that the country's leader Kim Jong-un affirmed that his first official visit to the Russian Federation in four years is a testament to the importance of the strategic relationship between North Korea and Russia.

According to KCNA, leader Kim Jong-un expressed the above views after arriving at Khasan station in the Primorsky Territory of the Russian Federation, in the early morning of September 12, where he met with Russian officials, including Russian Minister of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov.

Mr. Kim Jong-un emphasized that his visit clearly demonstrated the serious stance of the North Korean party and government.

Also according to KCNA, leader Kim Jong-un's visit to Russia aims to "raise friendly and cooperative relations to a new level."

The DPRK leader thanked the Russian President for the warm welcome and conveyed his best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the government, army and people of the Russian Federation.

According to KCNA, accepting the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, leader Kim Jong-un departed for Russia on a special train from the afternoon of September 10.

Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said the meeting between the two leaders will take place in the coming days.
