Kabosu, a Shiba Inu dog who became the symbol of Dogecoin and the inspiration for many other memecoins, died on May 24 in eastern Tokyo.

Kabosu's passing has left the online community and cryptocurrency fans around the world in mourning.

The image of Kabosu dog cross-legged on a sofa, with an adorable expression on his face, went viral on the internet in 2010, inspiring the creation of Dogecoin (DOGE), one of the first memecoins. The success of Dogecoin later paved the way for the creation of a series of dog-themed memecoins, such as Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Floki (FLOKI), which are now an integral part of the cryptocurrency market.

Dogecoin currently has a market value of up to 23 billion USD.

Atsuko Sato, Kabosu's owner, shared that her dog has brought her and everyone around her a lot of joy and happiness. Kabosu has a friendly, cheerful personality and is always full of energy.

Despite being 18 years old and older than the average Shiba Inu, Kabosu remained healthy and full of life until her last days. Sato said Kabosu's passing was a huge loss to her family and those who loved her around the world.
