The Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention will handle the subject spreading false information about national cultural heritage with a warning.
The Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05, Ministry of Public Security) has just issued a document announcing the results of handling the subject spreading the news that "eel porridge is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage."
Specifically, Facebook account Tran Nhat Anh at 8:47 a.m. on April 14, 2024 posted an article with the content: "On August 9, 2024, Nghe An province's eel porridge was included in the list of national intangible heritage."
The article was accompanied by a photo of the decision of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which was determined to be fake by the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). The Department of Cultural Heritage sent a dispatch to A05 requesting verification of the incident.
Accordingly, A05 has reviewed, checked and verified that the owner of the Facebook page Tran Nhat Anh is Tran Thi Nhat Anh, born in 1988, hometown in Thanh Chuong, Nghe An, currently living in Ho Chi Minh City, working as an online seller.
On September 17, A05 worked with Mrs. Tran Thi Nhat Anh and her husband. The two admitted to posting on their Facebook page and the Nghe An Eel Fanpage with content and photos of a fake decision from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Ms. Nhat Anh said that the origin of the photo of the decision was that her husband accidentally saw it and downloaded it from social networks (but did not remember the original posting account); then sent it to Ms. Nhat Anh to repost with the purpose of promoting the family's eel porridge products to be sold smoothly and had no other intention.
After being informed by the authorities that the above decision was fake and the information posted above was false, Ms. Nhat Anh and her husband realized their wrongdoing and voluntarily removed all posts on the Tran Nhat Anh Facebook account and the Nghe An Eel Fanpage.
The Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention found that Ms. Tran Thi Nhat Anh and her husband both had a sincere and cooperative attitude, admitted their violations due to limited awareness of the law, and this was their first violation, and warned Ms. Tran Thi Nhat Anh about the above violations.
Mrs. Nhat Anh and her husband realized the problem and learned from their mistakes, while also pledging not to repeat the mistake.
