In the first 6 months of this year, Hai Duong continued to focus on leadership, direction, and attention and priority for the two sectors of health and education to meet the requirements in the new situation.
Comprehensive care, positive results
In the health sector, the province has strengthened its direction to comprehensively improve the work of protecting and taking care of people's health. As a result, medical examination and treatment activities in the province have changed a lot. Some new and advanced techniques have been applied in some provincial hospitals. Hai Duong basically ensures enough medicine, chemicals, and medical supplies to serve the medical examination and treatment work for the people. Vaccines in the expanded immunization program are basically sufficient, no longer lacking as in the same period last year.
Since the beginning of the year, the number of patients in the province suffering from infectious diseases such as chickenpox and Covid-19 has decreased compared to the same period in 2023. The number of patients with dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease has increased by 20 and 172 cases respectively compared to the same period last year, but has been well controlled, with no serious or fatal cases. The province has not had any mass food poisoning cases. The sex ratio at birth has decreased by 3.47 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
In particular, last May, the Provincial Party Standing Committee organized the largest-ever meeting and dialogue with health sector staff. More than 2,000 opinions and proposals were received and directed by the provincial leaders to be resolved, gradually removing difficulties and obstacles for this sector. After the dialogue, the Provincial People's Council issued a Resolution promulgating regulations on the authority to decide on the procurement of assets, goods and services under the management of the province according to the Government's Decree, removing difficulties in bidding for the procurement of drugs, equipment and supplies for the health sector and education. Currently, the province's specialized agencies are actively preparing to advise on policies for recruitment, attraction and support for human resource training for this sector. The province has also directed specialized agencies and localities to focus on implementing well the education sector. The whole province has 109 students winning prizes in the selection exam for the national excellent student competition in the 2023-2024 school year, and selected 108 students to join the team.
By the end of June, the rate of schools meeting national standards in the province was 78.1%.
