On the morning of April 24, in Lang Son City, Lang Son Newspaper held a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the publication of its first issue (May 1, 1964 - May 1, 2024).

60 years ago, on May 1, 1964, from Tin Lang Son, Lang Son Newspaper launched its first issue with 4 pages, published every 5 days. Although the staff and reporters were still lacking and had not been properly trained, they actively went to the grassroots, closely followed the life and revolutionary movements to propagate, contributing to motivating the army and people to compete in labor, production, and combat, creating glorious victories.
On December 27, 1975, the 2nd Session of the 5th National Assembly decided to merge Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces into Cao Lang province. The Standing Committee of Cao Lang Provincial Party Committee issued a Resolution to merge the two newspapers Cao Bang and Lang Son into a newspaper of the Cao Lang Provincial Party Committee, named Cao Lang Newspaper. During the 3 years of merger (1976 - 1978), Cao Lang Newspaper performed well its tasks as a propaganda, education and agitation agency for cadres, party members and people of all ethnic groups in the province to unite and compete to implement the Party and State's guidelines, policies and strategies on the tasks of Cao Lang province in each period.
Faced with the new requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland's borders, on December 29, 1978, the State Council decided to separate Cao Lang province back into Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces, and Cao Lang Newspaper was also separated.
Currently, Lang Son Newspaper is published 5 times a week with a circulation of about 1.9 million copies per year. Lang Son Online Newspaper has 3 versions: Vietnamese, English, Chinese and expands its public access channels on social networking platforms such as Zalo and Facebook. Lang Son Newspaper currently has over 50 staff, reporters, officials and workers.
Lang Son Newspaper is gradually organizing the editorial office according to the convergence model; promoting operational activities and newspaper publishing processes on the basis of applying modern information technology; focusing on building a team of cadres, reporters, editors, and technicians with strong political will, professional expertise, meeting the requirements of political tasks in the new period.
With outstanding achievements in 60 years of construction and development, Lang Son Newspaper has been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and State such as: Second-class Labor Medal, Third-class Labor Medal; and many worthy awards from the Provincial People's Committee, ministries, branches, agencies and units.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Lang Son province, requested that in the coming time, Lang Son Newspaper be proactive, sharp, and timely in forecasting, grasping, and orienting political ideology, especially in the face of important and sensitive issues and events in social life. Always uphold the principles and purposes of the Party newspaper agency, strictly implement regulations on professional ethics of journalists; build a cultural press agency, cultural journalists. Innovate and improve the quality of content and form of printed and electronic newspapers, gradually build Lang Son Electronic Newspaper into a key publication with high quality.
At the celebration, Lang Son Newspaper performed the button-pressing ceremony to launch the new interface of Lang Son Electronic Newspaper. This is a step forward, marking the development of Lang Son Newspaper in line with the trend of modern journalism.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Lang Son Newspaper's first publication.
