The saying 'No rice cake has bones. No stepmother loves her husband's children' is probably not true for my brother and sister's family.

"No rice cake has bones. No stepmother loves her stepchildren." That's what the old saying goes, but with my sister-in-law, it's the opposite...

She was born into a poor family. Her mother was disabled and her father died early. Her mother gave birth to her on a cold, windy winter night at the end of December. Her life changed when she met my brother. He also had a troubled love life. She told me that the first time we had time to sit and talk.

She was not pretty but had a kind and gentle face. Her father died early, so she and her mother struggled to support each other. The family was poor and afraid that her daughter would suffer, so her mother devoted all her energy to plowing deeply, hoeing, growing crops, and raising livestock. In winter, when the whole village abandoned their fields, leaving the fields bare, her mother worked hard to plow and grow crops of vegetables and corn to sell to earn money to send her daughter to school.

The land does not fail its people, the mother's calloused hands raised her daughter to be obedient and study well. She loved her mother, loved her hard-working, lonely shoulders, raising her daughter to be an adult. She passed the university entrance exam, the good news came to the village, her mother only cried. Her mother cried because she was happy, not sad. No one in the village would look down on her and her daughter. The extraordinary willpower of the mother with her crippled hands to raise her daughter to study well made many people admire her.

The only daughter was the support of her poor mother, studied pedagogy and returned to work as a teacher at the village school.

She thought that after all the hardships, her mother would finally be able to rest and enjoy her old age, but unexpectedly... illness spared no one. Her mother suffered from tuberculosis and passed away on a cold night, leaving her an orphan in her twenties. Her mother had not yet held her grandchild, had not yet seen her daughter happily return to her husband's house. She cried for her mother until her tears ran dry. But she knew she had to overcome it. Her mother had endured too much hardship and sacrifice.

Stable job, many guys came to flirt with her but she didn't find anyone suitable. It was really fate that brought them together. She had a crush on my brother. A man who had been married before.

She came to him because of both love and gratitude. In an accident on the village road late at night, if it weren't for him, she would have gone to the "other world" with her mother. He met her when he saw a weak girl lying on the side of the road. Her leg was broken, blood was flowing profusely. The person who caused the accident had carelessly abandoned her. He took her to the hospital and took care of her every day. Because he knew she had no relatives by her side. His love "awakened" her heart that knew love for the first time.

They got back together. Many people said that she was at a disadvantage. An unmarried girl, a teacher, married a man who had been married before. But she did not regret it... because my brother was a decent man. He left his wife because he could not stand her selfishness and pettiness. He could not accept a money-loving wife who abandoned her husband and children to follow another man.

The day she went to her husband's house, the wedding was simple, with only family members. As a woman, I sympathized with her. She was a woman getting married for the first time but her parents were no longer by her side. On the day of the wedding, she did not cry. Perhaps her tears had dried up and now she was ready to enter a new life.

After marrying her, my brother was much happier. He was no longer sad and lonely like before. Their house was warm and tidy. He worked hard at the motorbike repair shop at the village entrance, and she went to school every day to teach. The strange thing was that his two stepchildren clung to her like their own mother. It was understandable, because she had real love for them. She took care of her stepchildren like her own children, worrying about them from meals to sleep. Every time they were sick, she stayed up all night. The thing that my husband worried about the most about the stepmother-stepchild relationship, as many people often mentioned, did not happen.

Except for the days when she was busy with class, whenever she had free time, she sewed clothes, cleaned, and prepared delicious dishes for her children. Many times my mother reminded her to have children to strengthen the bond between husband and wife, but she refused. She did not want her husband's two children to be hurt. It was not until my two children were grown up that she and her husband carefully worked on their mental health and got their consent that she dared to have children.

A cute baby boy was born, making the couple's house warmer and happier. With him, his two stepchildren love and help their mother. Mom is busy, they take turns taking care of their baby, without any comparison or jealousy. Their small family is happy and fulfilled, making her more beautiful and him more stylish. His shop, which only repaired motorbikes, now also includes car maintenance and care. Their three children have grown up, are well-behaved, and study well. The eldest daughter has passed the university entrance exam. She wants to follow her mother's career. Their second son has also just passed the provincial specialized school exam. Their family is happy and peaceful thanks to the sincere love they have for each other.

The saying "No rice cake has bones/No stepmother loves her husband's children" is probably not true for my brother and sister's family.
