'Ugly' goal scored against Vietnam team wins best goal award

Midfielder Supachok Sarachat of the Thai National Team has just won the award for the best goal in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final.

After two days of online voting on the ASEAN United FC website, the title of best goal in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 final has its owner.

Accordingly, midfielder Supachok Sarachat was the winner with 85.41% of the total 46,482 votes. Nguyen Hai Long ranked second with 12.12%. Next was Tuan Hai (2.22%) and finally Ben Davis (0.25%).

Supachok's goal was scored in the 64th minute, raising the score to 2-1 for the Thai team. Specifically, when Hoang Duc was in pain and lying on the field, goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu proactively threw the ball out of bounds for the referee to handle the situation.

However, when the referee allowed the match to continue, the Thai team did not return the ball but immediately launched an attack. Supachok received the ball and scored a goal to the amazement of the Vietnamese players.

Although the Vietnamese coaching staff and players protested to the home team, the referee had discussions with the captains of both sides but did not change the situation.

However, the "Golden Star Warriors" did not give up and came back stronger. The efforts of coach Kim Sang Sik's students were rewarded with two goals in a row to reverse the situation, winning 3-2 and winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup with a total score of 5-3.
