The Call Recordings feature allows you to record audio of phone calls or FaceTime directly using your Apple iPhone.
The first major update to iOS 18 was available for download on the evening of October 28, more than a month after the operating system was officially released. The new version supports devices released since 2018, such as the iPhone XS and iPhone XR or newer.
With a capacity of nearly 2 GB when upgrading from 18.0.1, iOS 18.1 adds a feature that Apple introduced at WWDC in June. For the first time, users can record calls with iPhone.
Apple says the feature Call Recording allows you to capture the audio of a live phone or FaceTime call. The recording button will appear when the other person picks up and will start about three seconds after you press it.
An automatic announcement will be played to let participants know the call is being recorded. This audio will then be saved in Notes.
One small change to the camera is that the control button on the iPhone 16 adds a feature that allows quick switching to the TrueDepth front camera. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max add the ability to capture spatial photos and videos.
When iOS 18 was released with a change in the control center interface, many people complained about the extra steps needed to quickly access the wifi and Bluetooth connection buttons. This was fixed in iOS 18.1 when they were separated back into separate buttons and could be set up according to the user's wishes.
In addition, some other updates focus on fixing bugs, such as stuttering when recording 4K 60 fps video, restart issues of iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, and problems unlocking cars with the phone.
For AirPods users from AirPods Pro 2 onwards, the iOS 18.1 update also brings some adjustments such as hearing test and hearing aid.
In addition, with iOS 18.1, the first set of Apple Intelligence features is also provided to users. However, this feature is only available for iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 series.
Apple Intelligence language features are currently available in US English only. A Vietnamese version will be released next year.
To upgrade, users can do it on iPhone, by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Before doing this, you should create a backup for your device, plug in the charger or fully charge the battery, and connect to a stable wifi network.
