6 Vietnamese students won medals at Asian Informatics Olympiad

All 6 Vietnamese students participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad won medals, including 4 silver and 2 bronze; ranked 9th out of 36 participating delegations.


Six students won the 2023 Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad

According to the announcement on May 30 of the Ministry of Education and Training, the four students who won silver medals include Nguyen Duc Thang, grade 11, Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (Phu Tho) and Pham Cong Minh (grade 11), Nguyen Ngoc Dang Khoa, Tran Xuan Bach (grade 12), High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University.

The two students who won bronze medals were Le Ngoc Bao Anh, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Da Nang), and Tran Vinh Khanh, Quang Tri High School. Both are 12th graders.

With this achievement, Vietnam ranked 9th out of 36 participating countries and territories. Among them, Tran Xuan Bach won a gold medal in this competition last year.

"The results have affirmed the quality of general education and the right direction in discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students," the Ministry of Education and Training assessed.

The 2023 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, hosted by China, was held online on May 20 with the participation of 1,471 contestants from 36 countries and territories. The total number of winners was 95, equivalent to 6.2% of the participants.

In last year's Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, Vietnam won 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals, ranking third overall.
