On February 24, the 2024 Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival Chess Tournament took place at the Con Son relic site (Chi Linh, Hai Duong).
This year’s tournament attracted 34 players from 8 communes and wards in Chi Linh City, including: Le Loi, Hung Dao, Cong Hoa, Sao Do, Pha Lai, Van An, Ben Tam, Bac An. The players competed in 5 rounds according to the Swiss system, competing for individual and team prizes.
Many matches were exciting and tense. Some matches lasted until almost the end of the allotted time (40 minutes) to determine a winner.
After more than half a day of competition, the results were that Cong Hoa ward won first prize for the team, Sao Do ward won second prize, and Bac An ward won third prize.
In the individual event, player Le Quang Phuong (Cong Hoa ward) won first prize. Two players Trinh Van Thang (Pha Lai ward) and Hoang Lam (Sao Do ward) won second and third prizes respectively.
In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded the oldest player to Mr. Duong Dinh Do (Hung Dao commune).
The tournament has been organized by the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Chi Linh City in coordination with the Management Board of Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site for over 20 years.
