10 people in the group of "crazy drivers" involved in the fatal hit-and-run of a girl waiting at a red light at the Tran Hung Dao - Ba Trieu intersection are being detained by the Hoan Kiem District Police (Hanoi).
According to Hoan Kiem District Police, at around 0:15 a.m. on November 3, a 27-year-old woman was driving a motorbike and stopped at a red light at the Tran Hung Dao - Ba Trieu intersection, heading from Hanoi Railway Station to Hospital 108. At the same time, a group of 20-30 motorbikes traveling in the opposite direction on Tran Hung Dao Street rushed towards her at high speed.
A car in the convoy then hit the girl, causing her to fall onto the road and die on the spot. After causing the accident, the group left the scene.
Police initially identified Nhung, 19 years old, driving a Honda Vision motorbike carrying Phuong Anh, 19 years old, as part of a group of "crazy drivers".
Due to not paying attention, Nhung crashed into the girl waiting at the red light. At the same time, a car carrying two other people following Nhung rushed forward and continued to crash into the victim.
At the police station this morning, November 4, with injuries to her leg and one side of her face, Nhung said that on the evening of November 2, she and her friend were riding a motorbike around the city taking pictures. When they reached the Hanoi Opera House area, she joined a group of about 20-30 motorbikes, so she sped up to "find an acquaintance".
When reaching the Tran Hung Dao intersection, Nhung's car collided with the victim's car and both were thrown onto the road. When she woke up in the hospital, Nhung realized that she had caused a fatal accident last night.
