The ceremony to announce the Decision and award the certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Mong Panpipe Art; the art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric of the Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, Van Chan districts (Yen Bai) and the opening of the Mong Panpipe Performance Festival and the To Day Flower Festival 2023 will open at 8:00 p.m. on December 23, 2023 at the Mu Cang Chai District Central Stadium, with many diverse activities rich in cultural identity.

Khen is the passion of the whole family of artisan Thao Cang Sua (Sang Nhu village, Mo De commune, Mu Cang Chai district).

On the opening night, there will be a program called "Quintessence of Mong panpipe art" with the highlight being a panpipe art performance with the participation of over 1,000 artisans and actors from Mu Cang Chai district.

Mr. Trinh The Binh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Mu Cang Chai district, said that preparations for the festival have been carried out according to plan. The event venue is the district stadium, which has been renovated and has 1,200 seats for locals and tourists. In addition, the locality has contacted Vien Nam Tourism and Sports Joint Stock Company to agree on the contents of being ready to carry out paragliding activities at Khau Pha Pass.

In addition to the main activities in the opening ceremony, Mu Cang Chai district will organize supporting events such as: street parade; reenactment of Mong ethnic cultural space; exchange and performance of Mong people's intangible cultural heritage; panpipe dance competition; experience pounding sticky rice cake; paragliding activities at Khau Pha pass... Mu Cang Chai district mobilized 200 students to participate in the art program; at the same time, agreed with the People's Committees of Tram Tau district and Van Chan district on the contents of the parade program.

According to Ms. Luong Thi Xuyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district, the art of Mong panpipes and using beeswax to create patterns on fabric of the Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, and Van Chan districts being recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritage is a great source of encouragement for the people, especially the Mong people; at the same time, it also fosters the pride of the people here in the cultural identity of their own people, thereby continuing to preserve, promote and exploit this cultural value.

Mu Cang Chai - where terraced fields spread out like steps reaching to the horizon has been recognized by the Prime Minister as a special National Monument; Khau Pha Pass - one of the four great mountain passes of Vietnam has become a famous tourist destination both domestically and internationally. Coming to Mu Cang Chai on this occasion, visitors can also immerse themselves in the Mong ethnic cultural space, the market space to feel the unique cultural beauty and customs of the local people; admire the ingenuity of artisans and people in making Mong flutes, painting patterns with beeswax on fabric...

In addition, visitors will admire the brilliant pink beauty of the To Day flower. This flower belongs to the woody plant family, only growing and blooming at an altitude of over 1,000 m above sea level. With the characteristic that the colder the weather, the more beautiful the flower blooms. This wild flower of the peach family is called "Pang To Day" by the Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, which translates to "forest peach flower" in Vietnamese. The flower usually blooms near the end of December, about a month before the peach blossom.

The organization of the Mong Panpipe Festival and the announcement of the Decision to include the Mong panpipe art and the art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric of the Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau and Van Chan districts into the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritages aims to introduce, honor and promote the potential and strengths of tourism development, raise awareness of conservation and promote cultural values ​​in the area, contribute to promoting socio-economic development; at the same time, create links for sustainable tourism development between localities in the province and the Northwest region.
