At the age of 32, she developed rheumatism, which caused her left leg to contract, and both her left arm and left leg were now clubbed. Walking was very difficult, so she often stayed inside the house, not going out to the gate, and she often tripped and fell. Ms. Ngan lived on a disability allowance. To have food, she asked her brother and sister who lived next door to buy it for her.

Many years ago, her parents passed away, leaving her alone in a house that was built nearly 30 years ago and was in serious disrepair.
