Harry Maguire's transfer to West Ham falls through

August 15, 2023 20:30

Harry Maguire's move to West Ham has been stalled due to the England defender's £15m wage compensation claim.

The London team is keen to bring in the former MU captain. West Ham have reached an agreement for a transfer fee of £30 million with the Red Devils.

However, they are frustrated at having to wait for Maguire to secure a wage compensation payment from Manchester United.

Maguire and MU have not reached an agreement on contract compensation

According to The Guardian, West Ham are ready to abandon negotiations to move on to other targets as the 2023/24 season has already started.

According to The Sun, if he leaves Old Trafford, Harry Maguire's salary will be reduced from £190,000/week to £120,000/week.

Therefore, the 30-year-old midfielder wants MU to compensate 15 million pounds. However, the Manchester team only agreed to pay Maguire 6 million pounds.

The problem puts the transfer at risk of collapse, unless Maguire or MU makes concessions to reach an agreement on compensation.

At the beginning of the season, Harry Maguire was stripped of the MU captaincy by coach Ten Hag. He also has no place in the Red Devils' first team.

The 30-year-old player himself was unhappy with the way the Dutch coach treated him - only letting Maguire start 8 Premier League matches last season.
