Volvo Vietnam has just launched the Volvo EC40, the company's first pure electric vehicle in Vietnam.
The Volvo EC40 is based on the XC40 petrol-powered CUV. The electric version of the XC40 is called the EX40, while the EC40 is a coupe with a steeper rear roofline.
The car is equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 408 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.7 seconds with eAWD four-wheel drive. Power is provided by a 400 V lithium-ion battery, with an efficiency of 78 kWh, for a maximum range of 510 km on a single charge.
According to Volvo, when connected to a 150 kWh DC fast charger, the car takes 33 minutes to charge from 0% to 80%. With a regular AC charger, it takes 24 hours to fully charge with single-phase current and 8 hours with three-phase current.
The car measures 4,440 mm long, 1,873 mm wide, 1,591 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,702 mm. The high-chassis coupe has soft and seamless lines to increase aerodynamics.
The front of the car has a grille that matches the overall paint color, equipped with a series of cameras, sensors, and radars. In addition, sensors and multi-point Pixel lighting technology are also integrated into the headlight cluster with Thor's hammer-shaped LED daytime running lights to actively adjust the light flexibly according to the surrounding environment.
The car's sloping rear creates a sporty coupe style, equipped with taillights with LED strips connecting from the ceiling to the trunk. Volvo added two rear spoilers on the roof and trunk to increase aerodynamics, giving the car a 4% longer operating range at high speeds.
The company offers four paint colors: green, blue, black and white, all contrasted with a black roof. Along with that, there are 19-inch Y-spoke wheels with new "Recharge" tires.
The EC40's interior focuses on sustainable, environmentally friendly materials, using Microtech leather technology, while the overall design is more streamlined and luxurious.
The car is equipped with a 9.7-inch vertical screen, integrated with Apple Carplay, along with driving modes, vehicle functions and entertainment. The 12-inch multi-information screen behind the steering wheel has 2 display modes to help the driver easily observe and focus on driving. Other amenities include a panoramic sunroof with UV protection, a 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a capacity of 600 W.
The trunk has a capacity of 480 liters and increases to 1,200 liters when the second row of seats is folded. Because there is no gasoline engine, there will be an additional 21-liter storage compartment under the hood.
The EC40 is still equipped with a series of safety features such as an advanced driver assistance system package including active safety, upgraded driver assistance, driver warning, lane keeping assist, cross-traffic warning, rear collision warning, hill start/downhill assist, panoramic camera and cervical spine injury protection system.
In Vietnam, the EC40 has no direct pure electric competitor. The price of more than 1.7 billion VND, equivalent to the previous XC40, is quite suitable for customers to access and switch between gasoline and electric needs.
The company offers a home charger for customers who buy the car. With this approach, the Volvo EC40 is mainly for customers who live in houses, and can easily park and charge at home.
