Vietnam Airlines representative said that they have increased flights for the third time with more than 90,000 seats, equivalent to 500 flights, for the peak Tet season from January 6 to February 5, 2023 (ie from December 15, Year of the Tiger to January 15, Year of the Cat).
Accordingly, the increased flights will focus on routes between Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai; Thanh Hoa - Da Lat.
In addition, the airline plans to add 36,000 seats, equivalent to 200 flights on the Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa route, during the period from January 15 to February 5, 2023 (ie from December 24, Year of the Tiger to January 15, Year of the Cat) after being licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Previously, Vietnam Airlines had two load increases in August and December 2022 to serve the Tet holiday, providing millions of seats across its domestic and international network.
"The airline has recorded a rapid increase in the number of passengers booking tickets in the days leading up to Tet. In particular, passengers tend to book flights with earlier departure dates than in previous years. Ticket prices for Tet this year are still being sold flexibly according to market conditions with a variety of prices and complying with domestic price ceiling regulations," said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.
As of the afternoon of December 28, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways have not announced additional flights.
On websites and flight booking applications, many Tet flights departing from Ho Chi Minh City to the Central provinces and cities are sold out. Specifically, on the morning of December 22, on the Bamboo Airways website, tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa route from January 15 to 20, 2023 (ie December 24 to 29) were sold out.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh route is sold out of economy and business class tickets from January 17 to 20, 2023 (ie December 26 to 29). On January 18, 2023, there is only one ticket left, but it is business class, priced at VND 5.9 million/ticket/way.
Similarly, the Ho Chi Minh City - Hue/Quang Nam route also has few options for flying business class with Bamboo Airways before Tet, with a price of nearly 5 million VND/ticket/way.
