Electronics experts advise you not to use tissue paper to clean the TV screen to ensure image quality and increase the durability of the device; why is that?
Cleaning the TV screen is very important to ensure sharp and vivid images, not only improving the quality of the experience but also protecting the health of the eyes. However, cleaning the TV screen must be done properly to ensure the image quality and durability of the device.
For convenience, many people still use tissue paper to clean TV screens, not knowing that this habit is not beneficial.
According to electronics experts, modern TV screens, especially LED, OLED or LCD TVs, are much more complex and sensitive than older TV models. The glass that protects the screen is often coated with an anti-reflective and anti-scratch layer to improve the viewing experience. However, this coating is very thin and vulnerable if not properly maintained and cleaned.
If you use tissue paper to clean your TV screen, you may accidentally damage this coating. Although tissue paper is smooth, it is not soft enough and can leave microscopic scratches on the surface of the screen. You may not notice these scratches at first, but over time, the screen will become dull or develop scratches that reduce image quality.
Additionally, tissue paper can leave behind small particles after wiping, making the screen look even dirtier than before you cleaned it.
This is especially true when you are trying to wipe away stubborn stains, such as fingerprints or grease, from your screen. Paper towels are not effective at removing these stains and sometimes just spread them further, making your TV screen look blurry and harder to see.
Some tissues are also treated with chemicals to increase their softness or absorbency. These chemicals, when in contact with the TV screen, can cause yellowing or fading of the anti-glare coating. This not only affects the appearance of the TV but also reduces the lifespan of the screen. That is why you should not use tissues to clean the TV screen.
To keep your TV screen clean and scratch-free, you should prepare a soft cloth or a specialized cleaning cloth. There are many types of specialized screen cleaning solutions on the market, designed to not damage the protective coating of the screen. You can buy a bottle of this solution and combine it with a soft cloth to wipe. Absolutely do not spray directly on the screen to avoid water or solution seeping into the gaps of the TV.
Spray the solution onto a cloth, then gently wipe the TV screen.
Experts advise that you should turn off the TV when cleaning and let the screen cool completely before wiping, to avoid cracking the screen due to sudden temperature changes.
You should clean your TV screen periodically, but not too often. If you clean it too often, the screen can wear out quickly due to friction. Only clean it when the screen is really dirty or has obvious stains.
After preparing the cleaning cloth and solution, follow these steps to clean the TV screen:
Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source before cleaning.
Disconnecting the power source will ensure absolute safety for the TV as well as protect you from electric shock and fire during the cleaning process. In addition, when the TV is not working, you can see most clearly all the stains on the screen and clean them thoroughly.
Screen cleaning
Prepare a container and pour an appropriate amount of cleaning solution into it. Use a soft cloth to dip the solution in the container and wring it dry, then wipe the TV screen.
For screens that are dirty due to normal dust, wipe in a Z-shape (zigzag) from the right edge to the left edge and vice versa until the end. For screens that are dirty due to fingerprints or when wiping unevenly in zigzag, wipe in a circular motion and move from one edge of the screen to the other, from top to bottom until the end of the TV screen. You can increase the force of your hand moderately to remove stubborn stains.
Clean the remaining parts of the TV
Parts such as the screen frame, TV base, case, and remote control are all made of hard plastic, which is a less sensitive material than the TV screen, so you can use a piece of tissue or a normal duster to clean it.
