Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg increased his personal wealth by $73.4 billion in 2024, with his total assets now reaching $201 billion.
The data is taken from the Billionaire Index compiled and monitored by Bloomberg news agency. Thus, Mr. Mark has officially entered the "200 billion USD billionaire club" with three other members: founder and CEO of Tesla and X platform Elon Musk, founder of e-commerce company Amazon Jeff Bezos and CEO of the world's leading luxury fashion brand LVMH Bernard Arnault.
Bloomberg statistics show that billionaire Musk - currently owns a fortune of 272 billion USD - is the richest person in the world. Next is billionaire Bezos owns 211 billion USD, ranked second. In third place is billionaire Arnault with 207 billion USD. Thanks to the increase in assets this year, billionaire Zuckerberg is currently the fourth richest person in the world, but it is very likely that he will soon surpass the previous person to rise to the third position in the near future.
Mr Zuckerberg, 40, first launched the Facebook platform in 2004 and quickly became one of the world's most famous self-made billionaires. The bulk of his fortune is tied to shares of Meta (formerly Facebook). Shares of Meta (ticker symbol META) have risen nearly 64% this year, amid a general surge in tech stocks in the US and globally.
On September 25, after the Meta Connect 2024 event, Meta shares rose 0.9% and closed the trading session at a record high of $568.31/share. However, by September 29, the stock had fallen to $567.36/share.
