Where do we need young people?

Arriving early at the "Red Sunday" voluntary blood donation program, Lieutenant Do Manh Hung (Tu Ky District Police) quickly went to the registration table to have the opportunity to share his blood. This is the 12th time Hung has donated blood voluntarily. Starting from his first year of university until now, Hung has donated blood 1-2 times a year.

In just the morning, the "Red Sunday" program attracted more than 700 people, officials, civil servants, union members, and youth to participate in voluntary blood donation.

This is just one of many volunteer programs coordinated by Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union during Youth Month 2024. At the Youth Month Launch Ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Youth Union directed the simultaneous launch of 8 youth volunteer teams, including: environmental protection, voluntary blood donation, maintaining traffic order and safety, community health care, supporting community digital transformation, building civilized urban areas, building new rural areas, and volunteering to serve the festival season.

As a member of the Young Doctors Club of Hai Duong province, Dr. Nguyen Van Duong, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital, cannot remember the number of times he has participated in volunteer medical examinations for the health of the community. Each volunteer program is a beautiful memory for him. He and his colleagues wish to contribute more to help people.

This year's Youth Month, he and the Rehabilitation Hospital Youth Union coordinated to organize 3 voluntary medical examination and free medicine distribution programs for policy beneficiaries, former youth volunteers, and people in difficult circumstances in Thanh Mien, Gia Loc, and Ninh Giang districts.

After being examined by doctors, Mr. Vu Dinh Quang in Yet Kieu commune (Gia Loc) said: "The fact that doctors and nurses volunteer to come to the locality to examine patients like this is very meaningful because we, the elderly, rarely go to higher-level hospitals. When we come here to see a doctor, we are examined, consulted, and instructed on how to take medicine and eat properly."

During the months of March, volunteer programs to ensure social security were effectively implemented by young people across the province, in line with the needs of social life. The role of Youth Union bases was clearly affirmed in participating in social security activities, community development, supporting families with preferential policies, people with revolutionary contributions and students in difficult circumstances.

The charity house, which was donated by the Provincial Agencies' Youth Union in coordination with Nam Sach District Youth Union to the family of Ms. Vu Thi Thieu (Minh Tan Commune, Nam Sach), has now been gradually completed. The house was built from the kindness and responsibility of the youth towards those who are still facing many difficulties. In just a short time, Ms. Thieu will be able to live in a new, spacious house, which is the motivation to help her improve her life.

20 years of Youth Month

The year 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the Party and State agreeing to choose March every year as Youth Month and the 10th anniversary of the Central Party Secretariat agreeing to choose 2014 as the "Year of Youth Volunteers". Youth Month has become the center of the youth volunteer movement, attracting tens of millions of youth union members nationwide to participate, contributing their efforts and intelligence to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Along with the whole country, over the past 20 years, Youth Month has been effectively implemented by the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union, attracting a large number of youth union members to participate, creating a prominent mark in the youth volunteer movement.

During the “Saturday of volunteering to resolve administrative procedures for the people”, the youth union members actively guided people to carry out administrative procedures, install VNeID electronic identification applications, electronic payments, and social insurance. This activity aims to encourage youth union members who are cadres, civil servants, and public employees to be creative in serving the people in conjunction with the “3 responsibilities” movement in 2024: responsibility for work, responsibility for the people, and responsibility for themselves.

During the first "Green Sunday" in 2024, nearly 7,000 youth union members participated in cleaning 377 km of village roads, alleys, drainage canals, collecting 5.7 tons of waste, removing more than 2,700 advertisements posted in violation of regulations, planting about 38,750 trees, and cleaning up 20 temples, steles, and memorials to heroes and martyrs. Provincial Youth Union chapters launched 10 models to prevent plastic waste, presented 25 trash bins, 200 biological products, and 2 "Lighting up the Countryside" projects.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Sang, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union, said that the practical actions of the Youth Union chapters at all levels and the enthusiastic participation of the youth union members demonstrated the correctness in choosing the content and theme of Youth Month by the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee. The Youth Union chapters at all levels continue to learn and grasp the aspirations and characteristics of each locality to deploy activities suitable for the youth. With the theme "Year of Youth Volunteers", he hopes that each youth union member will join the Youth Union to light up the flame of youth volunteerism in the coming time.
