According to the Department of Data Collection and Information Technology, General Statistics Office, from April 15, 2022 to May 30, 2022, the General Statistics Office will conduct a 2022 enterprise survey nationwide.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy Director General of the General Statistics Office, said that the purpose of the 2022 enterprise survey is to collect information on enterprises, cooperatives/cooperative unions (collectively referred to as enterprises) to serve the management, operation, assessment and forecasting of the socio-economic situation, policy making, and development planning of the entire economy and each locality.

“In addition, the survey also serves to calculate the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2021, other statistical indicators of the National Accounts System and statistical indicators of economic sectors; compile the "White Book on Enterprises 2023" and "White Book on Cooperatives 2023"; update the database as a sample frame for statistical surveys on enterprises...," Deputy General Director Nguyen Trung Tien emphasized.

According to the General Statistics Office, the 2022 enterprise survey will be conducted in 63 provinces and centrally run cities for enterprises with production and business activities in the sectors in the Vietnam Economic Sector System (VSIC 2018), except for 3 sectors: Sector O - activities of the Communist Party, socio-political organizations, state management, national security and defense, compulsory social security; Sector U - activities of international organizations and agencies; Sector T - activities of hiring domestic workers, production of material products and self-consumption services of households (because the survey subjects do not arise in these sectors).

The subjects of the investigation are organizations and individuals (identified as grassroots units or also known as economic sector units by location) that satisfy the following conditions: having a specific location in Vietnam to directly carry out or manage and operate production and business activities; having a leader responsible for managing and operating activities; having professional workers.

These basic units operate continuously or periodically according to season or business practice. Each basic unit is located in only one commune, ward or town (hereinafter referred to as commune level) and conducts only one type of economic activity belonging to the third-level economic sector.

The survey units are enterprises and corporations, general companies. Enterprises are organizations with their own names, assets, transaction offices, established or registered for establishment and subject to the provisions of the Enterprise Law; the Law on Cooperatives/Unions of Cooperatives, people's credit funds operating under the Law on Cooperatives and enterprises established, subject to the provisions of specialized laws such as the Law on Insurance, the Law on Securities...

Groups and general corporations include 64 groups, general corporations and enterprises with industry-wide accounting activities (including 3 groups and general corporations under the management of the Ministry of National Defense).

According to the General Statistics Office, the 2022 enterprise survey collects the following information: identification information of the survey unit; industry of production and business activities; type of enterprise; affiliated establishments of the enterprise. Information on labor and income of employees: number of employees; income of employees.

Information on business production results and costs: operating results, business production costs; investment capital; product production output; energy consumption; specialized statistical indicators in the National Statistical Indicator System classified according to the Vietnam Economic Sector System and the Vietnam Product Sector System.

The General Statistics Office said that the 2022 enterprise survey is a comprehensive survey combined with a sample survey. The comprehensive survey applies to all enterprises to collect basic information on identification information, production and business lines, labor, and production and business results.

Sampling surveys are applied to selected enterprises with the aim of expanding the survey content, serving the calculation of specialized indicators, helping to improve the survey quality, especially for complex and in-depth questions.

The survey was conducted on April 15, 2022. The indicators collected at the time of the survey are specified in each survey form. The information collection period for the survey indicators is data for 2021. The indicators collected by period include: production and business results, implemented investment capital, production output and some other indicators.

The 2022 enterprise survey uses an indirect survey method through online information collection. The survey units provide information on the General Statistics Office's enterprise survey website (Department of Data Collection and Statistical Information Technology Application).

It is expected that in the first quarter of 2023, the official results of the investigation and compilation of the White Book on Enterprises and the White Book on Cooperatives will be announced.
