In an article published on the evening of January 18 with the title "Vietnam's GDP to grow by 7.09% in 2024", the electronic newspaper ThmeyThmey cited data from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, saying that Vietnam has exceeded the GDP growth target set by the National Assembly of 6.5%, with the two leading sectors being services and industrial production.

Specifically, the service sector has the largest contribution to GDP at 49.46%, followed by industry and construction (45.17%).

Cambodian media quoted General Director of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Huong as saying that despite being affected by natural disasters, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector will still achieve a growth rate of 3.27% in 2024.

According to General Director Nguyen Thi Huong, in 2024, the industrial and construction sectors will have many positive changes compared to 2023. Meanwhile, trade and tourism activities will have the highest growth rate, making the largest contribution to Vietnam's GDP growth.

According to ThmeyThmey newspaper, Vietnam's GDP in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 7.55% compared to the same period last year. This is an impressive growth rate in the context that Vietnam's GDP in the whole year of 2023 reached 5.05%. In his New Year's greetings message for 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pledged that Vietnam aims to achieve GDP growth of at least 8% in 2025 and increase to double digits from 2026.

Previously, Cambodia's SBM.News also reported on Vietnam's GDP growth in 2024 and commented that "Vietnam's continuous economic growth recovery is thanks to its export scale and foreign investment flows".

In an article titled “Vietnam’s GDP to grow strongly, reaching over 7% in 2024”, SBM.News assessed that “Vietnam is a major manufacturing hub in the region and is benefiting from the global consumption recovery, despite being severely affected by Asia’s strongest storm last year”.

According to the article, Vietnam's exports in 2024 will achieve an impressive growth rate of 14.3% compared to 2023, with a total turnover of 405.53 billion USD. Vietnam's main export items include electronics, smartphones, garments and agricultural products. Vietnam's import turnover in 2024 will also record an increase of 16.7%, reaching 380.76 billion USD. Thanks to that, Vietnam will continue to maintain a large trade surplus of 24.77 billion USD.

Cambodian media said that Vietnam's strong economic growth recovery over the past year was also supported by the government's increased import of raw materials for energy production to ensure a stable power supply. Domestic electricity output increased by 9.6%, reaching 293.3 billion kWh.
