Police are searching for Le Thanh Tien in connection with a 'gunfight' on the night of the 6th day of Tet in Phu Duc commune, Chau Thanh district, Ben Tre province.
Ben Tre Provincial Police said they have directed Chau Thanh District Police and related units to urgently investigate and clarify the shooting incident while drinking alcohol that occurred on February 3 (the 6th day of Tet) in Phu Duc Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province.
Previously, at around 9:00 p.m. on February 3, Mr. Tran Binh Thai, 53 years old, and his wife and four friends were drinking beer at their house in Phu Duc commune, Chau Thanh district. A short while later, Le Thanh Tien (41 years old, residing in An Hoi ward, Ben Tre city, Ben Tre province) drove a motorbike there, went inside to curse, took out a pistol and repeatedly threatened to shoot Mr. Thai and the people at the drinking table.
At this time, Nguyen Truong Giang (36 years old, residing in Ward 4, Ben Tre City) ran up and held a gun and fired a shot at Tien, but was stopped by everyone.
Immediately after that, Tien chased Giang out onto the street, fired 3 to 4 shots, then both drove away from the scene. The incident lasted about 3 minutes and was recorded by Mr. Thai's security camera.
In response to the above incident, the police force entered the scene to investigate and invited 8 related people to the headquarters for questioning.
During the investigation, the police determined that the initial cause was that Thai and Tien had a personal conflict before, so after getting drunk, Tien sought out Thai to resolve the matter.
Le Thanh Tien is currently on the run. Authorities are searching for him.
