The first high school in Hai Duong to let students take Saturday off

Marie Curie Secondary and High School, Campus 1 and Campus 2, will have Saturdays off from early November 2024.

Specifically, students in grades 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11 study from Monday to Friday and have Saturday off. Students in grades 9 and 12 still study from Monday to Saturday because they are final year students.

Marie Curie Secondary and High School has arranged a scientific timetable to ensure the educational program according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training as well as complete the content and general education program of 2018 according to the school year schedule.

Accordingly, the school increased the regular school hours by one afternoon for students in grades 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11. With Saturdays off from regular school, these students will be free to participate in activities of various cultural, sports and entertainment clubs.

Giving students a day off on Saturdays is intended to reduce academic pressure and increase rest time for students and teachers. This decision by the school shows bold innovation and shows concern for the lives and rights of teachers and students.

According to the reporter's investigation, most parents of Marie Curie Secondary and High School agreed to support the school's decision because their children have extended rest time and increased concentration on studying during the week. Students are excited because they have more time to develop soft skills. Parents also find it easier to arrange family work on weekends.

Some provinces and cities have also applied for students to take Saturday off with many different forms such as: Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Hanoi, Ha Tinh, Khanh Hoa.
