In early May, the Foreign Language Specialized High School (CNN), University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, announced tuition fees for 10th grade students, school year 2024-2025. Tuition fees are divided into two levels: 1.3 million VND per month in 2024, and from 2025 it will increase to 1.97 million.

Last year, the tuition fee for the specialized program at this school was 300,000 VND per month. The new fee is 4-6 times higher.

Explaining, the Foreign Language Specialized School said that the tuition increase is to maintain operations in the context of having to stop enrolling non-specialized students (near-specialized students), according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. The new tuition level applies to 10th grade students. In previous courses, the school collected the same amount: tuition for grades 11 and 12 was 300,000 VND/month for specialized students, nearly 3.1 million VND for near-specialized students.

According to the school, the collection level is based on Decree 81/2021 of the Government on public tuition fees and the Project to innovate the school's operating mechanism, which has been approved by Hanoi National University.

The school estimates that the revenue from tuition fees only meets about 70% of the school's actual needs, the rest will be supported by the University of Foreign Languages.

This year, the Foreign Language High School will enroll 525 students for 7 specialized classes. Except for the English specialized class, which has slightly reduced its quota by 5, the rest will increase by 10-30 places.

The exam was held on the morning of June 1. Candidates took three subjects including Foreign Language, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Literature and Social Sciences. The admission score is the total score of the three exams on a 10-point scale, in which Foreign Language is multiplied by a coefficient of two.

The exam results will be announced by the Foreign Language High School before June 30.
