The "Backbone" of the Digital Economy

Developing and building a synchronous and modern national Digital Infrastructure to serve Digital Government is a development trend of many countries. In Vietnam, the Prime Minister has clearly stated his views and emphasized the necessity and compulsory nature of Digital Infrastructure. This is the important infrastructure of the digital economy.

Currently, the Ministry of Information and Communications is also drafting the Prime Minister's Decision approving the Digital Infrastructure Strategy to 2025 and orientation to 2030. The goal of the Strategy is to bring Vietnam's Digital Infrastructure to develop in line with developed countries in the world, becoming a driving force for economic development.

Besides developing network infrastructure, the most important components of Digital Infrastructure are cloud computing and data centers. In particular, the data center is considered the "heart" of the Internet and the "backbone" of the Digital Economy, playing an important role in storing, processing and managing the huge amount of data that powers the modern digital world, helping the Digital Transformation process take place smoothly and quickly.

The Data Center market in Vietnam is expected to reach USD 1.03 billion by 2028, a significant increase from the USD 561 million recorded in 2022 (according to Research and Markets). The market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.68% during the forecast period (2022-2028).

In the strategy of building the National Digital Infrastructure, Vietnam aims to have 100% of government agencies and 70% of enterprises using domestic cloud computing by 2025. The new, world-class data center has a scale of 7,800m2 and a usable floor area of up to 12,400m2. This center provides the best-available infrastructure for all digital service platforms, secure data storage and specialized cloud computing solutions, and complements existing cloud computing services in Vietnam.

Another "big guy" Viettel has also officially built the largest data center in Vietnam with a total capital of up to 6,000 billion VND and will come into operation in the near future.
