Many faces in the list of U23 Vietnam team in the first training session of 2023 were students of coach Philippe Troussier who competed in the 2020 U19 Asian qualifiers.

As someone who directly coached the U19 Vietnam team 2 years ago, it can be seen that the French strategist did not have much difficulty in making a list for the U23 Vietnam team, which includes young faces who have made an impression recently such as goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan, defenders Vu Tien Long, Tran Xuan Thinh, Phan Tuan Tai, Luong Duy Cuong, midfielders Le Van Do, Huynh Cong Den, striker Nguyen Van Tung...

Besides, a series of new faces are also given opportunities and are ready to enter the race to find an official position in the U23 Vietnam team.

According to the plan, the training process of U23 Vietnam in March 2023 will be divided into 4 phases. The first phase, taking place from March 1 to March 7, is the phase that helps the new head coach and his colleagues mainly review and evaluate the quality of the players to prepare for the next training phase.

Phase 2 takes place from March 8 to March 12. During this phase, the U23 Vietnam squad will be reduced from 41 players to about 32 players and the new head coach will also begin to convey the playing style, tactics and strategies applied to the team, while continuing to evaluate the squad for the next training session.

The third training phase of the Vietnam U23 team starts on March 12 and ends on March 17. Similar to the training phase in phase 2, the team will be reduced to 24 players and 3 goalkeepers. With this reduced force, the team will train with a more in-depth curriculum and is expected to have 1-2 matches against strong clubs in the V-League.

The 4th training period will also be the last training period in March 2023 for the Vietnam U23 team. This period will last 12 days, from March 18 to March 29, with the players' squad almost set for the 32nd SEA Games. During this training period, the Vietnam U23 team is expected to have a training trip and friendly matches in the UAE with quality opponents.

During the training periods, the U23 Vietnam team will flexibly supplement its forces depending on the results of the U20 Vietnam team at the 2023 U20 Asian Finals.
