On March 17, the Department of Registration announced that Toyota Vietnam recalled 3,591 Wigo cars imported from Indonesia manufactured between February 13, 2023 and July 16, 2024 due to a problem with the brake system control software.

According to Toyota Vietnam, in conditions where Wigo drivers frequently brake when driving at low speeds (driving in traffic jams or in mountainous areas), the negative pressure in the brake booster may not reach the design standard, leading to the risk of reduced braking efficiency, causing unsafety for the driver and passengers.

Therefore, Toyota said it needs to recall and update the brake system control software on faulty Wigo models. This recall is being implemented by the company at all authorized dealers nationwide from March 14, 2025 and will last until March 14, 2028. Each vehicle takes about 30 minutes for technicians to check and fix the error completely free of charge.

The Japanese automaker also said it will support recall procedures for non-genuine imported vehicles.

In case you want to check whether your vehicle is included in the list of vehicles affected by this program, you can contact Toyota Vietnam and Toyota dealers nationwide for support.
