A welding point problem on the car floor forced Toyota Vietnam to recall 463 Avanza Premio and Veloz Cross models.
On June 26, Toyota Vietnam (TMV) officially announced the recall of the low-cost MPV duo Avanza Premio and Veloz Cross to add welding points on the floor. These vehicles were manufactured between February 19, 2024 and March 21, 2024 with a total of 463 units.
Specifically, Avanza Premio has 1 version with 50 vehicles affected by this recall while Veloz Cross has 2 versions with a total of 413 vehicles affected.
TMV's recall will be implemented from June 26, 2024. Owners can bring their affected vehicles to dealers nationwide for inspection and problem resolution. Based on the inspection results, the vehicle will have additional welding points added to the vehicle floor, with an estimated completion time of approximately 0.7 to 1.9 hours per vehicle.
The specific cause of this recall is that the stiffener (welded in the vehicle floor) may be missing a welding point, so this part may peel off and affect the vehicle's load-bearing capacity, while increasing the deformation of the vehicle body in the event of a collision.
