Toyota Vietnam donated more than 2.6 billion VND to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and provided free engine oil changes for Toyota and Lexus owners affected by flooding, from September 7-30.
Last September, the northern provinces experienced difficult days, struggling to cope with storms and floods. In particular, the northern mountainous provinces were severely affected in terms of both human lives and property.
In order to share the above difficulties, Toyota Vietnam and 5 authorized dealers in Ca Mau, Ninh Kieu, Bien Hoa, Binh Duong, Kien Giang, Lexus Thang Long joined hands to support more than 1.6 billion VND for 6 northern mountainous provinces affected by storms and floods. The provinces receiving support from the Japanese car company include: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang and Vinh Phuc.
Previously, Toyota dealers nationwide proactively donated VND1 billion to the provinces. According to Toyota Vietnam representative, the company's trade union and dealers directly handed over the donations to the relief mobilization committees of the provinces and cities. Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces alone received VND300 million each.
In response to the damage caused by storms and floods to vehicles, Toyota Vietnam has dispatched experts, personnel, prepared spare parts warehouses, and coordinated with dealers to maintain and repair damaged and flooded vehicles. From September 7-30, the company and Toyota dealer network nationwide launched a free engine oil change program for customers whose Toyota and Lexus vehicles were flooded or had their bodywork damaged by storms and floods.
"We hope that the contributions of Toyota Vietnam and the dealer system, though small, will help our people gradually overcome their grief and soon stabilize their lives," said a representative of Toyota Vietnam.
Initial statistics from the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Storms and Post-Storm Circulation show that 337 people died and went missing, 1,929 people were injured; 238,000 houses were damaged; over 195,000 hectares of rice, 47,000 hectares of crops, 36,000 hectares of fruit trees were flooded; over 4,700 aquaculture cages were damaged and swept away.
