Immediately after the appointment announcement, Mr. Kamyshin affirmed that he will continue to serve the defense industry of Ukraine as well as other directions of strategic significance.
According to a decree posted on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine on September 8, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed former Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin as Advisor on Strategic Issues.
Mr Kamyshin, who was Ukraine's minister in charge of strategic industries and arms production, submitted his resignation last week.
Immediately after the appointment announcement, on the Telegram messaging platform, Mr. Kamyshin affirmed that he would continue to serve the defense industry of Ukraine as well as other directions of strategic importance, but did not give details.
In addition, President Zelensky also appointed Mr. Viktor Mykyta - Governor of Zakarpattia province in western Ukraine - as Deputy Chief of the President's Office in charge of supervising the activities of the provincial military command agencies, as well as effectively connecting the government and local communities with businesses.
Last week, the Ukrainian parliament approved the appointment of nine new cabinet members, including experienced diplomat Andrii Sybiha, who was appointed foreign minister to replace Dmytro Kuleba.
Former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Oleksii Kuleba was appointed Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for the Development of Communities and Territories.
The Parliament also approved Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanyshina to continue in her previous position, in charge of overseeing Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and concurrently serving as Minister of Justice.
Earlier, on September 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Cabinet reshuffle was aimed at strengthening Ukraine at different stages.
