After successfully concluding his State visit to Mongolia, on the evening of October 1, General Secretary and President To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Genghis Khan Airport in Ulan Bator for a State visit to Ireland from October 1-3 at the invitation of Irish President Michael D. Higgins.
At exactly 8:30 p.m. on October 1, local time (ie 2:30 a.m. on October 2, Hanoi time), the plane carrying General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation landed at Dublin Airport, the capital city of Dublin, beginning a state visit to Ireland.
This is the first state visit since the two sides established diplomatic relations in 1996.
