Solemnly organize the memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

On July 26, 2024, the Central Committee of the Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held the memorial service for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, according to the State funeral rites at the National Funeral House, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi), Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City) and the Hall of the Cultural House of Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district (Hanoi city).

To pay tribute, as of 12:30 p.m. on July 26, 2024, more than 5,600 delegations from central and local agencies, armed forces, people and international delegations came to pay their respects with over 252,000 people paying their respects directly in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; more than 483,000 people wrote in the electronic condolence book on VNeID; about 3,000 delegations paid their respects at 94 Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.

At exactly 13 o'clock, the memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was solemnly held.

Attending the funeral at the National Funeral House, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi) were Politburo members: President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the military band played the National Anthem to bid farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - an exceptionally outstanding leader who devoted his life to the country and the people. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, was born on April 14, 1944; hometown Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi; permanent residence at No. 5 Thien Quang street, Nguyen Du ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi, joined the Party in 1967, joined the Party in December 1967. With deep emotion and sorrow, Politburo member, President To Lam, Head of the Funeral Committee, read the eulogy, stating: Comrade's passing is a great and irreparable loss to our Party, our Nation, and our people. Our country has lost a talented leader; the communist and progressive movement in the world has lost a sharp theorist; international friends have lost a sincere friend and close comrade; the family, clan, and homeland of Dong Hoi have lost an outstanding son.

With nearly 60 years of rich and persistent revolutionary activities, Professor, Doctor, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with his profound and sharp intelligence, has left the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army with a valuable system of ideology and theory on the path of the Vietnamese revolution in the new era. Firmly and creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought, with the goal of national independence and socialism, thinker Nguyen Phu Trong, the theoretical flag of the Party, has clarified the theory of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam, the role of the Communist Party, and the socialist-oriented market economy...

That invaluable legacy has strengthened the strong belief in the path to socialism, made important contributions to the development of the communist movement in the world, and developed Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought in the present era. With a strategic vision of the international situation in the contemporary world, with constant efforts to contribute to maintaining and preserving a peaceful and stable environment in the region and the world, he opened a new chapter in the relationship between our country and international partners, promoted the friendship between Vietnam and other countries, increased Vietnam's contributions through many commitments and practical actions, closely combining national strength with the strength of the times, and brought our country forward strongly.

Inspiring and leading our entire Party, people and army with intelligence, a noble spirit of humanity and benevolence, with strong will and determination, with the personality and honor of a communist soldier who wholeheartedly serves the Fatherland and the people, with the belief that "Honor is the most sacred and noble thing," steadfast leader Nguyen Phu Trong has continuously built our Party to be increasingly clean and strong, leading our country and our people to successfully implement the path of innovation.

President To Lam emphasized that throughout his revolutionary career, the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system held a particularly important position for comrade Nguyen Phu Trong.

Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought on Party building, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has deeply clarified the nature of the Party and the building of a ruling Party based on the practice of renovation in Vietnam. From there, he and the Central Executive Committee have planned and led the successful implementation of strategic policies on Party building and rectification; resolutely and persistently fighting against individualism, against ideological, moral and lifestyle degradation, against corruption and negativity in the Party.

This is an extremely arduous and difficult war against "internal invaders" that makes our Party increasingly clean and strong, affirming its pioneering role, bravery and intelligence, so that our Party can truly "be moral and civilized."

Under his leadership, for the first time our Party issued a specialized Resolution on building and perfecting the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, and for the people.

As President and Chairman of the National Assembly, he is always concerned with the issue of building a legislative body that is truly the highest authority of the people, truly democratic and represents the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people; perfecting a synchronous, unified, public, transparent, and feasible legal system, creating a solid legal corridor for proactive, deep, comprehensive international integration and strong national development.

Imbued with Ho Chi Minh's ideology, deeply aware of the important position and role of culture "Culture is the soul of the nation", "If culture exists, the nation exists", the great culturalist Nguyen Phu Trong has devoted much enthusiasm and made especially important contributions to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, truly the spiritual foundation of society, an endogenous strength, an important driving force for national development.

Under his leadership, after more than 70 years, our Party has organized the National Conference on Culture - a milestone connecting the thoughts and actions of the entire Party, people and army, strongly promoting the role of culture to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

With profound and sharp political vision, he raised strategic thinking, creating new developments for Vietnam's national defense, security and foreign affairs.

That is the idea of ​​protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, defending the country when it is not yet in danger; always focusing on building a position of people's hearts, building a revolutionary armed force that is elite, compact, strong, truly clean and strong; the Army and the Police are united like "two wings of a bird," like "a sword and a shield", joining hands, unanimously, overcoming all difficulties, hardships, sacrifices, maintaining peace and stability to develop the country.

Promoting the pioneering role of comprehensive diplomacy, forming and effectively leading the implementation of the art of diplomacy of the new era imbued with the identity of "Vietnamese bamboo" on the basis of the Vietnamese character of "Responding to all changes with unchanging", "peaceful and filial", "using benevolence to replace violence."

Under his leadership, Vietnam has become a reliable partner, an active and responsible member in the international arena; continuously integrating deeply and comprehensively into international politics, the world economy and human civilization.

Throughout the ideology of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is the people, the human being, wholeheartedly serving the people, building new socialist human beings and constantly consolidating great solidarity and unity, first of all solidarity and unity within the Party, solidarity of the entire nation and pure international solidarity.

He is always determined to plan and successfully organize the implementation of all policies and strategies that are in line with the people's wishes; firmly adhere to the stance, viewpoint and practice of "people are the root", "people are the subject and center of the renovation process". A true, sincere and righteous communist always keeps in mind and requires the entire Party and the entire political system to "have the highest responsibility to the people, care for the material and spiritual life of the people", "close connection with the people is the law of existence, development and operation of the Party, is the decisive factor creating the Party's strength."

Throughout his life, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has persistently devoted himself to the revolutionary cause of our Party and people with a spirit and will of steel, never retreating in the face of obstacles and difficulties; with a sense of responsibility and revolutionary enthusiasm, working until his last breath, wholeheartedly, wholeheartedly, and devotedly to the Party, the country, and the people; affirming a great personality, living his entire life for the country, the Party, and the people.

Comrade is truly a typical, exemplary, shining example of pure revolutionary character and ethics, "impartiality", simple lifestyle, integrity, sincerity, democratic working style, dedication, science, closeness, determination, consistency between words and actions, respect and love for people, very close to the people; truly the nucleus gathering solidarity, intellectual unity of our entire Party, people, and army, respected, trusted and proud of by cadres, party members, people, and compatriots abroad, and appreciated and highly appreciated by international friends.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions and achievements, the Party and State respectfully awarded him the Gold Star Order, the most noble award; but above all, he forever belongs to the Fatherland and the people. Expressing his condolences and deep affection for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, President To Lam affirmed that although he has passed away, his name and career, his contributions and achievements, his talent and virtue will shine forever in the glorious history of our Party and nation, in the gratitude of our cadres, Party members and people, and in the affection of international friends. The legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will live forever in Vietnamese history, and will be inherited and further promoted in the renovation process; successfully realizing the goal of building a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam that he cherished, strived for, and sacrificed for all his life.

Leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front; representatives of ministries, departments, sectors, organizations, comrades, compatriots, and international friends observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The family representative, Mr. Nguyen Trong Truong, son of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, expressed: “Our father and grandfather, Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, after a period of illness, despite the wholehearted care and treatment of the Party, the State, the collective of leading professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and serious illness, our father and grandfather passed away at 13:38, July 19, 2024 (ie June 14, Giap Thin year), at the 108 Central Military Hospital, Hanoi, at the age of 80. Our father's passing is an extremely great loss that cannot be compensated for our family, especially my mother and his children and grandchildren.

From the time our father fell ill until his last moments and throughout the funeral process, our family has always received a lot of love, encouragement, sincere sharing, and wholehearted help from the Party, the State, central and local agencies and units, grandparents, uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters, the affection of the people of the whole country, our compatriots abroad and international friends. My mother and our entire family would like to express our deepest and most sincere respect and gratitude.”

Deeply mourning the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front; representatives of ministries, departments, sectors, organizations, comrades, compatriots, and international friends walked around the coffin to bid farewell to Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding and prestigious leader of our Party, State, and people.

To the solemn background music of the song "Soul of the Dead", the leaders and former leaders of the Party and State carried the coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the hearse, sending him off to his final resting place. The coffin of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was solemnly covered with the national flag.

Many people in the capital stood on both sides of the route where the funeral procession passed to bid farewell to comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - the exemplary leader who devoted his life to the country and the people, to his final resting place.

On the afternoon of July 26, at the same time as the funeral ceremony at the National Funeral House, at Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City), many delegates representing central and local agencies, and representatives of all walks of life in Ho Chi Minh City attended the funeral ceremony for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Attending the memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his hometown - Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi city were representatives of local leaders, paternal and maternal families and a large number of people.

In the solemn and respectful atmosphere, many people could not hold back their tears at the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. For the people of Dong Hoi, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is not only a shining example of simplicity, closeness and sincerity, but also a talented, exemplary and virtuous leader of our Party, State and people.
