The image of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's 10th grade teacher sitting in a wheelchair to visit his student on the morning of July 26 moved all witnesses to tears.
Sitting in a wheelchair, Mr. Nguyen Trong Vinh, founder of Nguyen Sieu Primary and Secondary-High School, and a 10th grade teacher of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, was pushed by his relatives to visit his former student in the General Secretary's hometown - Lai Da village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi at 8:00 a.m. on July 26.
Missing his excellent student, teacher Nguyen Trong Vinh wrote in the condolence book: "Deeply mourning the passing of Nguyen Phu Trong - a steadfast Communist in the struggle for the cause of building a clean and strong Party; building a rich and beautiful Vietnam, with prosperous and happy people!
Throughout his life, he devoted himself to the country, steadfastly taking human development as the foundation, deeply caring for teachers and students. I can never forget his thoughtful, sincere and meaningful sharing with us teachers and students: 'We must always maintain the name of Nguyen Sieu School and build the school forward, if we stop, we will fall behind'...
On behalf of Nguyen Sieu's family, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the family, clan and homeland of the General Secretary.
Sending you off to eternity, every Vietnamese citizen and all of us at Nguyen Sieu School will forever remember you - the General Secretary who devoted himself to the country and the people."
Sharing memories of his student, teacher Nguyen Trong Vinh said:“When I was still in school, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an extremely gentle, hard-working and polite person to his teachers. He and I were as close as family. Later, when we graduated, every time we had a class reunion, the other students called me teacher, but the General Secretary called me uncle. My friends asked me why I called him that, it was not allowed, but we still called him that because Mr. Trong and I were extremely close to each other.”
With tears in his eyes, Mr. Vinh added:"I am very proud and moved that when my student passes away, he will rest in Mai Dich cemetery, along with the country's past leaders."
In the delegations that came to Lai Da village to visit the General Secretary on the morning of July 26, in addition to teachers, old friends and Vietnamese people, there were also many foreigners who came to commemorate and pay their respects.
Mr. Eltonbritis is from South Africa and has been in Vietnam for 6 years. He loves the country and people of Vietnam, especially General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This morning, he and his Vietnamese friend went to the General Secretary's hometown to pay their respects.
“I really love General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. I see General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Ho Chi Minh as people who work for the country and the people, just like our South African leader Nelson Mandela. I am very moved to come here today to pay my respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong,”Mr. Eltonbritis said.
