Due to the short green light, many cars stopped in the wrong lane and ran the red light at the intersection of National Highway 5 and Provincial Road 186, Lai Khe intersection in Cong Hoa commune (Kim Thanh, Hai Duong).
Specifically, in the direction of Hanoi - Hai Phong, in the lane for vehicles turning left onto Provincial Road 186, the red light signal lasts more than 90 seconds while the green light signal lasts only 19 seconds. Because the green light signal is short, some car drivers, wanting to go faster, immediately stop in the lane for vehicles going straight.
Some cars even ran red lights and stopped in the middle of the intersection to wait to turn onto Provincial Road 186. During rush hour, many vehicles have to wait 2-3 times at the lights to exit the intersection and turn onto Provincial Road 186. Many times, before they can cross the road, the light changes, leading to conflicts with vehicles coming from other directions.
