A TikToker's income becomes a topic of debate on social media.

More than a week ago, the content creator on the social networking platform TikTok (abbreviated as "TikToker") Long Chun suddenly shared the possibility of earning 1 billion VND per month from this platform. Long Chun is one of the most famous and leading TikTokers in Vietnam today. He owns an account with nearly 5 million followers on this social network.

"Regarding my income, there are months when I earn a few hundred. There are also peak months when there is a lot of work, and I can earn nearly 1 billion. I'm telling the truth, I'm not bragging," Long Chun said in a video that is going viral on social media platforms.

Immediately after this video, many comments criticized and said that Long Chun could not earn that amount of money in a month and was completely bragging and fabricating. "I don't know how rich he is yet, but showing off like this is not nice," commented a TikTok account.

"The Bearded Girl" - a famous TikTok account - made a separate video criticizing Long Chun's statement regarding his income. He relied on the number of videos Long Chun posted a month with brand elements and speculated: "Long Chun can earn 300-500 million in a peak month. This number is not as high as Long Chun said". This was followed by a series of negative comments and criticism below.

The public continued to discuss the matter after Long Chun posted a video response a day or two ago.

Earning billions is completely possible!

"I believe Long Chun and other famous TikTokers can absolutely earn 1 billion VND a month," said a media expert who asked to remain anonymous. According to the expert, the income of a content producer on TikTok depends on many factors such as followers, external popularity, and the ability to create content and initiate trends...

"For example, when booking an A-list star, the price for posting on TikTok or Facebook is still sky-high," he gave an example.

He added: "For independent TikTokers, the price list is mainly built by you and quoted by yourself, negotiated with the brand. The price principle of KOLs in general and TikTokers in particular is almost not fixed and can increase a lot, especially during the peak season of campaign racing."

In addition, independent TikTokers do not have to "share" with the management company, so 100% of the contract value will go into their pocket. "For content creators with management companies, the share is 6/4, 7/3 or other agreements; the small part belongs to the TikToker.

However, when there is a management company, the possibility of getting advertising contracts will be higher because the company will have to work hard to find contracts to recover investment capital and make a profit on a KOL," he explained.

Advertising agencies are familiar with TikTokers, so they will quickly suggest to brands a list of content creators that match their message and the cost they are willing to spend on the campaign. Therefore, there are rarely any bargaining situations between agencies and TikTokers. "However, it is not excluded that some agencies will have different agreements with TikTokers," the expert continued.

According to the price list of a TikToker that we have, the cost of booking a content creator is divided into many categories. The total of the categories will give the final booking cost.

The items listed include: posting videos with pre-written scripts or TikTokers writing their own; how the script mentions the brand; whether there is copyright to use images on other channels such as press ads, outdoor ads; whether there are additional video formats produced in addition to the main video such as duet (allowing another account to combine performances on a pre-made video background)...

The total cost for this TikToker can be up to 50-60 million VND/post.
