Rules of the Writing Contest "Hai Duong - The City I Love"

On the morning of May 20, Hai Duong Newspaper organized a meeting with active collaborators and launched a response to the writing contest "Hai Duong - The city I love"

Here are the contest rules:

Pursuant to Decision No. 1492/QD-UBND dated May 17, 2023 of the People's Committee of Hai Duong City on the establishment of the Organizing Committee for art composition competitions towards the 220th anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Duong City. In order to effectively implement Plan No. 167/KH-UBND dated May 17, 2023 of the People's Committee of the City on organizing art composition competitions towards the 220th anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Duong City, the Organizing Committee promulgates the Rules of the writing contest "Hai Duong - the city I love", specifically as follows:

I. CONTEST RULES

1.1. Contestants

Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam. Members of the Organizing Committee and Jury are not allowed to participate in the contest.

1.2. Content

Entries for the Writing Contest “Hai Duong - The City I Love” focus on the following topics:

+ History, cultural traditions of the old Thanh Dong, present Hai Duong city, outstanding achievements of the city in the process of construction and development during the renovation period, especially when the city was recognized as a type I urban area; changes of the city in terms of socio-economy, appearance...

+ Typical examples, good models, good practices, contributing to building the city - the political, economic, cultural and social center of the province.

+ Reflecting the beauty of the lifestyle and personality of the people here, as well as the beauty that bears the mark and characteristics of the city expressed in culture, history, landscape, architecture, heritage, cuisine, lifestyle...; touching moments in the rhythm of daily life make readers love more the city where they live, study, work...

+ Provide advice to build a more civilized and humane city, worthy of being a green, livable, friendly and modern city.

+ Promote the city's image, contributing to attracting investment for socio-economic development.

1.3. Contest format and conditions

+ Articles in the form of reports, reflections, notes, memoirs, and memoirs.

+ The content of the work reflects objectively, honestly, and is not fictional.

+ The work must not exceed 2000 words in length.

+ Article in Vietnamese, typed in font size 14, Times New Roman font.

+ Use clear language, in accordance with good customs and traditions. The author is responsible before the law for the copyright and content of the submitted work.

+ There is no limit to the number of works submitted by each author/group of authors. Each author can submit multiple works but must have a unified full name or pen name.

+ Contestants are not allowed to copy other people's documents, except for illustrative quotes, which must clearly state the source. The works must not have been published or used in the mass media (it is recommended to provide links after they have been published in newspapers and social networks of Hai Duong Newspaper and Hai Duong City). Contestants are not allowed to be printed in the author's own books and general collections until the end of the contest.

+ Submitted works must clearly state the author's full name, pen name (if any), year of birth, occupation, gender, residential address or work unit, phone number, and contact email.

- Note: The Organizing Committee will not consider works with incomplete information; copyright infringement; and is not responsible for entries that are not submitted on time or lost during the submission process.

1.4. Judging criteria

* Works participating in the preliminary round:

Contest entries must have content and format in accordance with the requirements of the Organizing Committee.

* Final round: The Organizing Committee will compile scores from the jury members and announce the awards based on the scoring results according to the prescribed scale from high to low.

1.5. How to submit entries

- The Organizing Committee accepts entries from May 18, 2023 to July 15, 2024. For officials, members, union members, students, workers, laborers and people from all walks of life in Hai Duong city participating in the contest, they must send their entries through the city's socio-political organizations, schools, and the City Labor Federation to conduct a preliminary round. Each school selects up to 2 best entries to send to the City Department of Education and Training. The City Department of Education and Training collects them and sends them to the Organizing Committee. Each socio-political organization and the City Labor Federation selects up to 5 best quality articles to send to the Organizing Committee via the address: Hai Duong City Radio Station, No. 106 Tran Hung Dao, Tran Hung Dao Ward, Hai Duong City (clearly write on the envelope: the work participates in the writing contest "Hai Duong - the city I love"), the article file is sent via email: daiphatthanhtphd2023@gmail.com

Authors outside Hai Duong city, professional journalists, reporters, and collaborators of Hai Duong Newspaper send articles to Hai Duong Newspaper headquarters, address: No. 10 Duc Minh Street, Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Duong City (clearly write on the envelope: work participating in the writing contest "Hai Duong - the city I love") send the article file via email: baohaiduong@gmail.com

II. PRIZES

-1 A prize: Worth 20,000,000 VND.

-2 Second prizes: Each prize is worth 10,000,000 VND.

-3 Third prizes: Each prize is worth 5,000,000 VND.

-5 Consolation prizes: Each prize is 3,000,000 VND

- 1 prize most loved by readers: 5,000,000 VND (Article with the highest number of likes on Thanh Dong New Day Fanpage and Hai Duong Newspaper Fanpage combined).

The list of winners will be announced in the printed newspaper and Hai Duong electronic newspaper, Hai Duong Newspaper Fanpage, Thanh Dong New Day Fanpage.

When summarizing the contest, the Organizing Committee may consider deciding to adjust the prize structure accordingly.

III. REGULATIONS ON WORKS, COPYRIGHTS AND OTHER RELATED PROVISIONS

Contestants agree to all the rules of the contest.

The author commits to take legal responsibility for his/her work, ensuring that there are no copyright disputes. If the awarded works violate copyright, the Organizing Committee and the Jury will consider revoking the award and widely announce it on Hai Duong Newspaper and the Fanpage "Thanh Dong New Day".

Posts that violate the rules of the Organizing Committee, Vietnamese customs or inappropriate information will be removed without prior notice.

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for entries that are not submitted on time or lost during the submission process.

The Organizing Committee is not responsible for contestants providing incorrect personal information, leading to uncontactability.

The Organizing Committee has the full right to use the entries for promotional activities. Authors with quality works will be published in Hai Duong Newspaper publications and will be paid royalties and receive free newspapers.

The winner is responsible for paying personal income tax according to the law at the time of receiving the prize.

The winner is responsible for notifying the Organizing Committee of his/her ability to attend the Award Ceremony so that the Organizing Committee can prepare the award. In case the winner attends without confirming his/her attendance at the Award Ceremony with the Organizing Committee in advance, the award will be transferred according to the information and documents provided by the winner.

The Organizing Committee will only resolve all complaints about the competition results within 7 days from the date of announcement of the results.

The decision of the Organizing Committee is final.
