Vietnam women's team won 2 matches in the group stage but still not sure to go to the next round

After two matches in the group stage of the 19th ASIAD women's football, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team have won two victories against Nepal (2-0) and Bangladesh (6-1). In the final match, the Vietnamese women's team will meet Japan (ranked 8th in the world, ranked 1st in Asia) at 3:00 p.m. on September 28.

The Vietnamese and Japanese women's teams have the same 6 points but lose on goal difference, so Vietnam is second in Group D.In the final match against Japan, a victory is very difficult to happen even though the opponent does not use the best force in this year's tournament.

Therefore, Vietnam will compete for the best second-place finisher. In the five groups, the three teams with the best results in groups A, B, D, and E will advance. In addition, groups D and E (Philippines is second) will have their points and goal difference against the bottom team removed because groups A and B only have three teams. Group C will have only one first-place finisher advancing when there are only two teams left.

At that time, the Vietnamese women's team will have 3 points left with a goal difference of +2 or +5 depending on whether the team at the bottom of the group is Nepal or Bangladesh.

In Group A, Uzbekistan is currently the second-placed team and is competing for the top spot with China in the final round when the two teams face each other. Both teams currently have better sub-indexes than the Vietnamese team (China +16 and Uzbekistan +6).

In Group B, Thailand and Chinese Taipei will compete for first and second place. Both teams have 3 points and a +1 secondary index.

The final match between the two teams is unlikely to have a big difference in score as they are equally skilled. Even a draw is possible and the second-placed team will have 4 points.

In Group E, the Philippines and Myanmar are competing for second place with the same points and goal difference. The final match between the two teams will be very unpredictable as the Philippines (ranked higher) lost to Myanmar at the 31st SEA Games earlier this year.

To secure this position, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will need to hold or limit the loss to a minimum when playing against Japan.
