Spain risks breaking the law because of Yamal

Yamal, who turns 17 on Sunday, will become the youngest player to play in a EURO final when he faces England.

Yamal has broken a number of records in recent times. He broke the record for the youngest player to play in a EURO when he played against Croatia at the age of 16 years and 338 days. He then became the youngest player to score in EURO history with a stunning equaliser in the semi-final win over France.

And on Sunday, the Barcelona striker could break... a German labor law.

German law states that anyone under the age of 18 cannot work past 8 p.m. However, according to Spanish broadcaster Cadena Cope, athletes are allowed to compete until 11 p.m.

However, this could still be an issue if the Spain-England match goes into extra time as it would go beyond the time limit, and the Spanish Football Federation could be fined €30,000 if it breaches this rule.

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente once shared about Yamal: "We are all responsible for his health. We will do our duty and let him play. Nothing more than that."

"I don't know the German law. Does Lamine have to leave the pitch at 11pm? I don't think so."

Whether this rule will be enforced remains uncertain, but it can be speculated that Spain would be willing to pay the fine so that Yamal can play important minutes against England.

This young player is one of Spain's outstanding factors at EURO 2024, having scored 1 goal and had 3 assists.

“We saw a genius, the product of a genius,” De la Fuente told reporters after the win over France. “He is a player we have to take care of – I have to advise him to continue training with humility and keep his feet on the ground.”

“He will continue to grow, but his maturity and attitude at this young age is like that of an experienced player. We are lucky that he is Spanish and we can enjoy his talent for many years to come."
