Known as a "tourist market" and "international market", every day Han market (Da Nang) welcomes 5-6 thousand visitors and shoppers, creating an unprecedentedly bustling scene.
Han Market - a famous tourist market in Da Nang has attracted a large number of foreign tourists to visit and shop in recent days. The groups of visitors mainly come from Korea, some Southeast Asian countries, India and visitors from Europe.
According to Mr. Duong Van Thanh, Head of the Han Market Security Team, from the beginning of 2023 until now, the number of foreign visitors visiting and shopping at the market has been very large, equivalent to the time in 2019, when the COVID-19 epidemic had not yet occurred. "Currently, 100% of the stalls at the market have resumed operations to serve the shopping needs of tourists. Although the flow of visitors from the Chinese market is not much, in return, Da Nang has a new source of visitors from Southeast Asian countries, India... and they choose Han Market as a place to visit and shop, so the atmosphere here is very bustling," said Mr. Thanh.
Mr. Hoang Trung Thuong Duc, Deputy Manager of Han Market, said that from April 2023 to now, it is estimated that the market welcomes about 5,000-6,000 visitors per day, with peak days during the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays when the market welcomed about 8,000 visitors. Of these, foreign visitors account for the majority, mainly Korean and Indian visitors.
According to Mr. Duc, Han market is oriented to develop into a tourist service point in the direction of a traditional market combined with a modern market, so it serves tourists with many souvenirs and high-quality specialties. Currently, Korean tourists are very interested in Ao Dai products. Coming to Han market, tourists can choose to buy ready-made traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai or go to tailor shops to get them tailored immediately.According to the owner of a shop selling souvenir bags, handbags, suitcases, and clothes are always chosen by Korean customers when they come to the market and this is the customer stream that is bringing in the main source of income for the traders. "In fact, Korean customers really like these items because, according to them, the prices in Vietnam are much cheaper than in other countries. Besides, the stalls all list and sell at the right price, so tourists can feel secure," said stall owner Tong Kim Ly.“Currently, Han Market has up to 700 kiosks. The Market Management Board requires traders to list and sell goods at the right price. At the same time, traders establish a common community to promptly report cases of price gouging and overcharging tourists when visiting and shopping at the market,” said Mr. Duc.With so many foreign visitors, the vendors at Han Market are always busy serving from early morning to late at night. The vendors also hope that when the flow of Chinese visitors returns, Han Market will be even more bustling.Da Nang has just invested more than 8 billion VND to renovate and upgrade the market. In addition, it is expected that in May, Han Market will implement a stimulus program, reduce prices, and increase incentives for tourists.
