Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs: Doing a good job of advising on ensuring social security

One of the highlights of the past year was that the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs advised the province to promptly implement the policy of housing rental support for workers according to Decision No. 08/2022/QD-TTg dated March 28 of the Prime Minister. Hai Duong is one of the provinces that implemented this support package quickly and effectively. Thanks to that, more than 26,000 workers received support with a total cost of nearly 40 billion VND, contributing to ensuring the lives of workers.

This year, the work of showing gratitude and caring for people with meritorious services and families with meritorious services has been well implemented by Hai Duong with many activities such as organizing the launching ceremony to support the "Repaying gratitude" Fund at all levels; organizing visits to martyrs' cemeteries; honoring outstanding people with meritorious services at the provincial level; visiting and presenting gifts to families with meritorious services and families with meritorious services... Thanks to early consultation, the gratitude activities have been implemented by the province for a long time, mobilizing many organizations and individuals to participate.

To ensure social security in the province after the Covid-19 pandemic and effectively implement the dual goal of both economic development and epidemic prevention, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has advised the Provincial People's Committee to pass 5 resolutions on social security policies, expanding a number of social protection beneficiaries to benefit from the province's policies. A typical example is the policy of financial support for families of people with revolutionary contributions to housing in the province, supporting 1,886 families of people with revolutionary contributions to build or repair houses.

The national target program on sustainable poverty reduction in the province for the period 2021-2025 and the plan to implement the national action program on the elderly for the period 2021-2030 have also been effectively implemented. In 2022, the poverty rate in Hai Duong will decrease to 1.75% (down 0.4% compared to 2021), the near-poor household rate will decrease to 1.99% (down 0.25% compared to 2021). 100% of social protection beneficiaries are eligible for monthly social allowances.

Child protection and care work is increasingly receiving attention from all levels and sectors. In particular, last year, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs advised the province to promptly support many children affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, strengthen measures to prevent accidents, injuries and drowning for children; coordinate to organize the program "Godmothers connect love" for orphans; organize the Month of Action for Children, children's forums at all levels with the participation of over 5,000 children... The work of preventing social evils has been strengthened; well implemented activities to bring drug addicts into drug rehabilitation and treatment, rehabilitation, job counseling, education, vocational training, production labor, helping addicts reintegrate into the community...

Regarding the implementation of tasks and breakthroughs, in 2022, the Department's leadership continues to identify administrative reform as a key task, and breakthroughs require focused leadership and direction. Many administrative procedures are carried out at levels 3 and 4, quickly and conveniently, creating favorable conditions for people.

With relentless efforts, in 2023, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs strives to do better in advising on the fields of labor, meritorious people, and society, helping Hai Duong effectively implement social security policies.
